The damage the Democratic party has caused the #MeToo movement

By: Michael D. Jacobsen

By now you pretty much have to be living under a rock to not know something about the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearing. The media circus that has erupted regarding this hearing proves that the nomination of a Supreme Court justice is still considered extremely important to people, and that the Democratic party will stoop to new lows to get something that they want.

Accusations of sexual assault are serious, and when they are brought to light they should be taken very seriously. When an accusation is made, and if it is possible, the process of finding out the truth should begin. However this was not the case for the claims made by Christine Ford. Instead these claims were silenced until the Democratic party, led by Senator Diane Feinstein could use them to their advantage for political gain.

Rather than treat Ford’s accusation with the proper respect it deserved Feinstien instead ignored it until it was to her advantage to mention it to others. If anything this is a serious slap in the face to Christine Ford, her story meant nothing to Feinstein until Feinstein felt it was worth revealing. This is not how you treat information like this. This is how you use something as a tool, a tool that once used you will not care about ever again.

Woman should be outraged by this. Not only is it clear that Ford’s story only serves as a political weapon, it has now jeopardized the #MeToo goal of encouraging people to believe all victims stories. The deliberate delay by Feinstein has made people begin to question if all accusations should be believed or looked into for ulterior motives. The worst part is that most of the leaders of the #MeToo movement seem to be going along with this. This really brings into question what the movement was all about. Believing the victims, or weaponizing their stories?

If the Democratic Party really believed that these allegations were so truly horrific, why then do they say nothing about Senator Cory Booker, who has admitted to doing the exact same thing that Brett Kavanaugh is accused of doing? Or perhaps they should gather together to remove Rep. Keith Ellison, who is accused by two different women of physically abusing them? Why is justice only important when the person who is the target has a different political view than theirs?

It is clear that the Democratic party has spit in the face of all victims. The fact that their stores are only worth something to them when they can be used as a weapon should have every victim up in arms. I hope that victims will speak out against this, or else they face having their stories questioned due to the poor decisions of the Democratic party.
